Welcome to England & Wales
At long last, I am pleased to announce that Coolabar is now providing golf tours & packages to both England & Wales. I wish to highlight the great links courses in England's Southeast, Northwest and the world rated heathland courses near London. as well as, the excellent affordable links in both North & South Wales.
I suggest staying in Windsor as it is only minutes from Heathrow via the M4 motorway. If you arrive in the morning and wish to play in the afternoon, you can play any one of the three Wentworth courses or either two of the Sunningdale courses. The Windsor Hotel is near Windsor Castle that you can visit if inclined. Whilst staying in West London, you can also play The Berkshire and/or Walton Heath, both highly recommended courses nearby. Walton Heath is a Nick Faldo favourite and is easily accessible via the M25 motorway. South Wales is accessible from Heathrow and London. If your preference is to play South Wales only, the drive via the M4 is about 3 hours to Cardiff and a little longer and further west to Porthcawl
I remember reading that the Kent region of England is the most cosmopolitan region in the country. This is where the winds blew "Olaf the Viking Chieftain" and where the Romans first landed in days long past. The drive is about 2 hours via the motorways and the A20/A2. This is a must if you wish to play three world rates links courses, Princes, Royal Cirque of Ports and Royal St Georges, an Open Championship course and host to many other amateur and professional tournaments of noteworthiness.
My preference is to arrive at the Manchester Airport, then make the short drive to Southport. You can make the 4+ hour drive from London if you prefer. It is a short drive west to play North Wales where you will find a number of excellent links courses at extremely affordable green fees. In the Northwest, you will find the three "Royal Links courses" Royal Lytham & St Annes. Royal Liverpool and Royal Birkdale. All three links courses are Open Championship hosts.
North Wales is accessible from Manchester, about a 2.5 hours drive. Then its west to North Wales, where I prefer Beaumaris in Anglesey for my place of abode. Three links courses I highly recommend are Conwy, Nefyn and Royal St David's. Mind you, there are others. Whatever links course you wish to play, I will gladly prepare, plan and price your customized personal itinerary.
As mentioned previously, you can make the 3+ hour drive from Heathrow to Porthcawl, about midway between Cardiff and Swansea. I like Porthcawl as most of the links courses east or west are within easy reach, the green fees are remarkably affordable. My must play links are Royal Porthcawl, Pyle and Kenfig, Tenby, Pennard and Machynys. If you must you can stay & play at the Celtic Manor, the host of the forthcoming 2010 Ryder Cup. Wherever your preferences, after 30 years of global golf & travel and 12 years of Coolabar golf itinerary planning, I assure you that I am able to give you the highest quality golf package or tour at the most competitive price possible. Please go to "Suggested Golf Itineraries," then click on "Enquiries & Quotations" to request your custom planned, competitively priced, budget, deluxe or premium itinerary. Kelly Robertson |
